Corporate Social Responsibility
The Horncastle Group is proud to be a socially responsible business. We endeavour to operate sustainably and responsibly, placing great emphasis on supporting the local community.
From the earliest days of the business, Tony Horncastle involved himself in charitable and voluntary work. This involvement has encompassed both financial and time commitments directed at improving and supporting the Hull and East Yorkshire region (although a range of overseas projects and initiatives have also been supported). In 1995, a charitable settlement was established to act mainly as pump primer. The principal aim of the settlement is to assist deprived children and help them to develop aspirations and enjoy a better future. This settlement has helped a huge range of organisations and continues to do so to this day.
Andrew Horncastle and the team at the Horncastle Group have continued this passionate support of charitable and voluntary activities. Andrew’s passion for entrepreneurialism has driven some of the recent support and activities, although the group tries to support a range of different initiatives in the area. Some of the current key activities are listed below:
Prince's Trust
The Horncastle Group is a very active supporter of the Prince's Trust in terms of both financial and time commitments. The Horncastle Group is currently supporting the Enterprise Programme and Development Award Scheme which aims to help youngsters start their own business.
For Entrepreneurs Only
This passion for business and entrepreneurialism is further displayed in the FEO Group. Andrew Horncastle is a founding member of this active group which aims to support local entrepreneurs, providing them with advice and networking opportunities to help them succeed in business.
The Daisy Appeal
The Daisy appeal moves away from business focused support and towards healthcare. Cancer affects many people’s lives and The Horncastle Group are doing their bit to help fund research into cancer. The company is actively supporting the drive to raise the £4.5m needed during Phase 2 of the appeal to purchase a PET/CT Scanner and Cyclotron to be housed in a specialist facility at Castle Hill Hospital. A second Cyclotron will be based at the University for use by scientists to develop new disease markers and drug treatments.
Everything else
Our social responsibility does not stop there! The company supports a range of other charities and community organisations on an ad hoc basis.
The following list names just a few of the organisations that the charitable settlement has helped over the years:
- Guides
- Scouts

- The Hope Charity
- Feed the Children – Kosovo

- The list goes on.....
Just as significant as the financial commitments are the time commitments that Tony Horncastle has made over the years, a small selection of these are listed below:
- 1971- Present: Rotary Club Member (inc. Past President)
- 1990-1996: Director of Humberside Training and Enterprise Council
- 1993-Present: University of Hull Business Club

We provide an excellent working environment for our staff and make every effort to please all of our stakeholder groups. Given that we are involved in development and construction, sustainability and the environment are hugely important issues for the group, therefore, we have separate sections covering these issues.
