Grade A Warehouse - Howden

March 2009

A new warehouse of 44,350 sqft constructed by Horncastle Group Plc at Ozone, Howden has gained a Grade A Energy Performance Certificate.

The unit is occupied by Transatlantic (UK) Limited as a distribution warehouse for high quality steel imported from Sweden.

The Grade A rating means the building is very energy efficient and as such should realise cost benefits for the occupier.  Ian Hodges, Director at Horncastle, comments “The improved efficiency was realised in this case through the provision of additional insulation in the fabric, better natural lighting and the installation of an intelligent low energy lighting system which regulates the operation of the lights as lux levels change during the working day.  In our opinion this additional investment at the outset will realise significant returns for both owner and occupier during the lifetime of the building”.
