Competition launched for students to create sculptures for Ozone distribution park

March 2007

City students could have their work immortalised in a new business park, thanks to an East Yorkshire developer.

The Horncastle Group has launched a competition for students at Hull College to design a sculpture for the new £20m Ozone distribution and light manufacturing park being built near Howden.

Horncastle, of South Cave, has already worked with Hull College's 3D Design Department to create sculptures for the Urban Sensation housing project in Hull.

The scheme proved so successful, with the initial sculpture installed last month, that Horncastle has asked students to turn their attention to a commercial project for the first time.

Horncastle Director Ian Hodges said: " We are looking for a sculpture that will portray the striking and innovative aspects of the Ozone development.

I have been impressed with the student's work."

Horncastle will present the winning student with a cheque for £500 with runner's up recieving £100.

The company has budgeted a further £5,000 for the sculpture to be made by a company chosen by the winning student.

A panel will choose a shortlist of three designs.
